Dr. EMMETT VELTEN
Co-Creator
Dr.Emmett Velten had never once voluntarily set foot in a gym until him after he was fifty. He was fat, out of shape, high cholesterol. The only solid feature was the family history of early and fatal strokes. Within one month, he had trained himself to do it, whether he liked it or not, and soon thereafter he remembers thinking, “I knew this would be fun!” In the past fifteen years he has exercised at a gym—cardio, weight training—perhaps 85% of the days in those 15 years.
Through the discipline of Ellis’s self-management methods, REBT, Edward did it.

DAVID
Herbalist
David was born in the mountains of Western Pennsylvania in 1944. His father immigrated to America from Czechoslovakia as did his mother’s parents. Being one of eight children, much of what David learned in his youth came from his mother and father who knew and used the Old World knowledge of natural healing, food and herbal energies. Herbs brought from the old country and those gathered in the mountains were used to heal friends, family and people in the community with many of their health problems.
David’s interest in nature began with his father and other Old World naturalist’s taking him into the mountains to gather herbs, mushrooms and foods. David admits that interacting with the old people was the key to learning their knowledge and accessing their wisdom was the best education that he could have ever obtained.
As a Marine in the early ‘60′s, he learned military discipline as well as the Oriental arts. David became close to his Asian instructors and their families. He learned many things from them. One being that “nature” was the key to many of the solutions of health problems. Second, that wisdom and experience are needed, along with education, to achieve success.
After being honorably discharged he worked in Virginia, Ohio and Georgia for many years in the wholesale botanical businesses learning about the plants and their usages. It was then that he became interested in the alternatives from all cultures.
Because of his interest in medicines and helping people, David worked at Norfolk General Hospital in the ‘70′s, being taught much about modern medicines and procedures. He learned that diagnosticians and dedicated medical professionals were a perfect combination for alternative healing. Today the system of combining modern medicines with ancient techniques is called “Integrated Medicines”.
By 1985, the accrued knowledge and disciplines that David learned would become an important part of his life. David was disabled in an automobile accident. He suffered structural damage and trauma to his back, feet and neck. After undergoing physical therapy, surgical procedures and with a grim prognosis, David, with the help of his wife Gail, created a personal plan for himself to again become mobile and productive.
The plan was to lose weight, strengthen the body, reduce blood pressure and bring the body functions back into balance. Using herbal therapy in conjunction with ancient behavioral and natural healing techniques, David was able to achieve a healthier, happier and more productive life within a few years of the surgery.
In 1991, still living with the disability and continuing his personal plan and daily therapy, David started a quest. That quest was a plan to help those that would make a conscientious decision to get well and overcome problems of the body, mind and spirit and to regain total control of their lives. The basis of the plan is that everyone is a unique individual and requires suggestions, herbal supplements and help based on their individual needs, not what someone else thinks is good for them or what works for another individual.
David began lecturing and holding classes for the public both on an individual and group basis, offering the same to private organizations. This has been successful in meeting the needs of many people, both individually and as a community service. He did this by revealing the truth of natural healing and the easy steps of not only having life, but also having it abundantly.
By 1998, many people were getting well and were very excited “about having control of their own lives.” Word spread quickly among relatives and friends; thus, people not only became healthier and increased their energy level, but also discovered that they felt better and looked healthier!
Because there were so many referrals being made from people who were improving, David and Gail made the decision to open their hearts and make themselves more accessible to the public. In early 2002, “Your Herbalist” opened its doors in Sylva, North Carolina . Since then, many have not only benefited from the information, but have also made their own healthy lifestyle plans based on their own individuality.
Your Herbalist was designed as a teaching and information center with a classroom and an office for those that wish to have private consultations with Your Herbalist. Private consultations are also done by telephone for those out of the area. Your herbalist and knowledgeable staff are available to guide you and provide information about the alternatives, natural healing, and steps to getting well. In addition Your Herbalist provides the finest products available for your individual needs.
As a traditional herbalist, counselor, and teacher in the alternatives and natural behavioral techniques, David is working with many clients from all around the United States. His quest is the same as it has always been: to provide people with information they need in order to regain control of their lives by using the foods, herbs and energies that God has provided for them to use.
